In The News: Watch Out!! Mega Food Companies Want a Piece of the “Meat Alternative” Market!

The minute big food companies see money being made on meat alternatives, they want a piece of that action. Tyson, Smithfield, Perdue, Hormel and Nestlé have all introduced meat alternatives, from plant-based burgers to chicken nuggets, because they see the profit companies like Impossible Burger and Beyond Meat are making. It’s not because they think it is better for the environment, or because they know eating meat has negative health effects, it’s because analysts project that plant-based protein and lab-created meat alternatives could be worth as much as $85 billion by 2030.
