Hi All,

I just finished my interview with Nickolas Freudenberg, and was so excited to learn about the work he is doing and the courses he is teaching to the next generation of activists. Helping young people understand how capitalism is at the root of decisions corporations make, and how it is impeded in all segments of society, is a great way to lead them on a path of activism, to untangle the web of profit over the good of mankind.

Nickolas Freudenberg is a distinguished Professor of Public Health at the City University of New York Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy where he also directs the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute. In his classes, he asks students to counter the marketing that corporations make to promote their processed foods, and come up with a counter marketing campaign that negates the promotion of that processed food.  In his book, “ At What Cost: Modern Capitalism and the Future of Health” he explains how the globalization, financial speculation, monopolies, and control of science and technology have allowed  corporations and their allies to influence our government and policies, and how that effects our ability to make real choices. His work is having a great impact on waking up society to the negative aspects of capitalism, and suggesting ways to work around it to create better outcomes for the people.
