iEat Green Celebrates Earth Week and Welcomes Nicholas Freudenberg, Professor of Public Health at the City University of New York Graduate School to Join Bhavani on PRN!

What Does Earth Week Look Like During Covid?

Hi All,

Usually during Earth Week, I am a busy lady, doing presentations at libraries and schools, and cooking demos at one or two schools. This year, Earth Week presentations are quiet, so instead, I will be joining the free, virtual screening of Vandana Shiva’s new film, The Seeds of Vandana Shiva, The Remarkable Life Story of Eco-activist Vandana Shiva. I have heard Vandana Shiva speak numerous times, I have interviewed her on my radio show, and I am a big fan of all the work she is doing to support farmers in India, fight back against GMO seeds, and the modification of food as a commodity. Her new feature length documentary film is available to watch for free, up until the 22nd of April.

Another great film that is available to watch during Earth Week is Kiss the Ground.  You can watch the film at your leisure or join Slow Food Hofstra on Wednesday, April 21st at 6:30, for a screening, followed by a Q&A with Restoration Farm head grower, Caroline Fanning, & Cornell Cooperative Extension Agricultural Stewardship Specialist, Deborah Aller.

Nicholas Freudenberg, Distinguished Professor of Public Health at the City University of New York Graduate School Joins Bhavani on PRN!

My guest this week on the Progressive Radio Network is Nicholas Freudenberg. He is a distinguished Professor of Public Health at the City University of New York Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy where he also directs the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute. I’ve invited him on my show to talk about his most recent book,  At What Cost; Modern Capitalism and the Future of Health. In the book, he explains how the globalization, financial speculation, monopolies, and control of science and technology have allowed  corporations and their allies to influence our government and policies, and how that effects our ability to make real choices. I hope you can join us for this very informative hour!

My radio show, iEat Green with Bhavani on the Progressive Radio Network is live, every Thursday, from 10-11 am, EST.  To tune in to the live show, just navigate to PRN.fm and listen in! Or, if you prefer, listen on the phone by calling 712-775-6850.
