iEat Green Shares Interview with Brian Tokar, Author of “Climate Justice and Community Renewal”

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I had a great interview with Brian Tokar, a lifelong activist, author and a lecturer in Environmental Studies at the University of Vermont.

His latest book, Climate Justice and Community Renewal: Resistance and Grassroots Solutions (Routledge, 2020), which he co-edited with Tamra Gilbertson, is an international collection on grassroots climate responses, and inspirational stories of people on the ground making a difference. As we have seen from the Covid 19 pandemic, the climate crisis will disproportionately effect marginalized communities and communities of color, and that is why it has been termed “Climate Justice”. In his book, Brian shares 15 examples from around the world of communities standing up to and resisting mountaintop removal, rain forest destruction, pipeline construction, fossil fuel extraction, and factory farming. They are re-communalizing a social life based on equal rights, non-patriarchal principles and a level socioeconomic field, to build new models of community resistance.

If you missed our interview, you can catch it here!
