iEat Green on The Progressive Radio Network; My Guest this Week is Kathy Lawrence, the Interim Director of NESAWG!

Hi Everyone,

I’m sure you are all wondering what NESAWG is? Well, it stands for the Northeast Sustainable Agricultural Working Group, and it is a coalition of over 500 organizations and thousands of individuals working in the food system arena.  The region includes Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Washington D.C.  Their purpose is to harness the people power that exists in our region, and to work together to change our food system to become more sustainable and more just.

Kathy Lawrence lives in Newburgh, New York, and wears a number of hats at NESAWG, including Interim Director, while the current director, Tracy Lerman, is on leave. Kathy is also an advisor to the Antibiotic Resistance Action Center out of George Washington University, regarding the Certified Responsible Antibiotic Use standard, and is an Airbnb superhost. Kathy was co-founder and senior director for School Food Focus, a national collaborative that leveraged the procurement power of large urban school districts to make school meals healthier and strengthen regional food production. A national consultant and educator on sustainable agriculture and food systems, Kathy was the executive director of the National Campaign for Sustainable Agriculture and the founding director of Just Food (NY).

I hope you can join us for a great conversation!
