iEat Green is Appalled and Disturbed with D.C.’s Censoring of Climate Information! Bhavani Welcomes Sarah Leathers and Ellen Palmer, the Co-Founders of Healing Meals Community Project to PRN!

Hi All,

There are so many disturbing things going on in this country right now, that I don’t even know where to begin, but when I heard about one of the nation’s leading climate change scientists quitting the Agriculture Department in protest over the Trump administration’s efforts to bury his groundbreaking study about how rice is losing nutrients because of rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, I became furious! Here is a man, Lewis Ziska, that has dedicated his life to science, and has worked for the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service for more than two decades, a governmental office that is supposed to guide protocol, based on research. Over 600 million people depend on rice for most of their calories, so his research is very important! The same censoring is happening at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)

Then to top it off, I hear that the Trump administration is moving two governmental offices, the Economic Research Service and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture to the Kansas City area, causing 70-80% of the department employees to quit. It’s all part of their plan to dismantle every government office that is supposed to protect the environment, protect the people, and save our planet.

Ugh!! We need to all get involved if we want our country to remain a democratic society and not a dictatorship!

Luckily, there are still good people in the world doing good things, and two of them will be joining me on Thursday on the Progressive Radio Network!

I have invited Sarah Leathers and Ellen Palmer as my guests, to talk about their work with the Healing Meals Community Project , a non-profit organization that they co-founded in Connecticut. Their organization has two missions, one, is to provide healthy organic meals to people in a health crisis and their other mission is fostering compassion and empowering youth and adult volunteers in their communities. They prepare and deliver delicious, organic meals for families dealing with a serious health crisis. They cook for the entire family for 12 weeks. Uniquely, all of their nutrient-rich meals are prepared by youth volunteers working alongside Adult Mentors and their Executive Chef. Each week these delicious and nutritious meals are conveniently delivered right to their client’s doors by volunteer “Delivery Angels.”

Sarah took a vision to heal others using food and made it a reality. She is an inspirational leader who tells stories that inspire action while at the same time she stays grounded in financial information that supports the business. Sarah is a graduate of Union College with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and The Institute for Integrative Nutrition as a Certified Health and Wellness Coach. Sarah discovered the healing power of food through her own health crisis and has passionately championed bringing the food is medicine approach to CT by founding Healing Meals in 2015.

Ellen is an inspiring leader dedicated to helping individuals reach their highest potential. Her passion for the healing powers of food drives her to help people, especially youth, live their healthiest and happiest life. Her former corporate career in healthcare and her experience as a Certified Holistic Health and Life Coach come together at Healing Meals. Ellen studied Business Administration at St. Michael’s College and Holistic Health at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Her role at Healing Meals utilizes both her business and her health coaching skills to build the internal and external infrastructure, processes and systems for a sustainable model for community care, youth empowerment as well as health improvement and advocacy.

Please join me on Thursday to learn more about Healing Meals and the deliciousness that they are bringing to their community!
