iEat Green, Along with Slow Food North Shore, Demonstrates the Ease of Making a Stir Fry! Join iEat Green in Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Book, “Diet for a Small Planet” with Author Frances Moore-Lappe!

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share with you the joy I experienced this past Saturday at the Cornell Cooperative Extension‘s, ‘Family Fun Day’! For starters, you couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful Fall day. The weather was perfect, people were happy to be outdoors, and there were hands on activities for the kids. Slow Food North Shore was invited to set up a tent, share information about the non-profit organization, and provide on-going cooking demos throughout the day. This was the first cooking demo I’ve done since the beginning of Covid, and it felt so good to be out there, sharing my passion of eating healthy, delicious, sustainable food, without the use of animal products! We talked about the Slow Food Movement, we demonstrated the art of cooking in a wok, and we served hundreds of people samples of an organic Japanese Stir Fry with Brown Rice. It was a blast!

I went straight from that event to Orkestai Farm, a non-profit farm located in the Planting Fields Arboretum. They were having their Harvest Moon Fall Fund Raiser, and I prepared a Stuffed Long Island Cheese Pumpkin and a Pesto Pasta as my contribution to the event. The evening was so beautiful and the setting was picturesque. There was lots of great food, live music, a dance performance, and a mural painting experience. A night to remember for sure!

Frances Moore-Lappe Joins Bhavani on the Progressive Radio Network to Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of ‘Diet for a Small Planet’

Frances Moore Lappé, known to her friends as Frankie, is the author of ‘Diet for a Small Planet’, the book that inspired me to become a vegetarian 48 years ago. She is also the author or co-author of twenty books about world hunger, living democracy, and the environment.  Frankie has been featured on the Today show, Hardball with Chris Matthews, Fox & Friends, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, the CBC and BBC, and other news outlets. Frances is the co-founder of three organizations including the Oakland-based think tank, Food First, and the Small Planet Institute, which she leads with her daughter, Anna Lappé. The pair also co-founded the Small Planet Fund, which channels resources to democratic social movements worldwide.

I am thrilled to have Frankie on my show, and I hope you can join us!
