Tom Vilsack has deep ties with bio-tech companies, and his record, both while under the Obama administration and since then, demonstrates that his alliance is with corporations and not with the people. We need a Secretary of Agriculture that understands the connection between agriculture, climate change, food insecurity, and hunger.

Please email your U.S. Senators today, and ask them to reject Tom Vilsack, and to consider a candidate that understands the connection!

There are so many better choices for Biden to pick, like Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine), or Senator Jon Tester (D-Montana). The founder of the National Black Farmers Association, John Boyd, or Karen Washington, the co-founder of Black Urban Growers would also be great choices.  Others include, Winona LaDuke, founder of the White Earth Land Recovery Project, Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman (D-Vermont), Colorado state agriculture commissioner Kate Greenberg, Iowa farmer Dr. Francis Thicke, former Georgia State Director of Rural Development Shirley Sherrod, former USDA Organic and Sustainable Agriculture Policy Advisor Mark Lipson, among others.
