Demand a Better Farm Bill

House Republican’s recently passed an appalling version of the Farm Bill that would save billions of dollars in subsidies?for Big Ag’s GMO crops and factory farms, while?eliminating the necessary assistance programs that feed millions of Americans, along with $5 billion from conservation?and sustainable farming programs that conserve top-soil, protect drinking water and provide habitat for wildlife.?Congress needs to hear from us now! Please contact your elected officials and express the importance of passing a fair Farm Bill that does not leave people hungry and our land, air, and water further damaged.

Solutions From the Next Generation

As temperatures rise, our increasingly fragile ecosystem will face a wide variety of global challenges. The need for scientific research for finding solutions to these hurdles is of utmost importance. Ultimately, it will be up to the youth of the world to tackle these issues. Young adults can explore and discover new solutions to universal questions and generate new findings in a variety of ways, including science fairs. Unlike most science fairs, the?Barilla Center for Food & Nutrition Young Earth Solutions competition, focuses on bringing young people together to develop sustainable solutions to nourish both people and the planet. ?With our current food system plagued with inequality and wastefulness, this competition provides a great outlet for young adults to find creative solutions to these global issues. If you know anyone who would be interested in this competition, please share. ?The deadline of the BCFN YES! has been extended to?August 1, 2013, so there?s plenty of time to enter submissions!
