An Interview with Barbara Damrosch of Four Season Farm

Hi Everyone,

We are really into the heat of summer now! I hope you are all enjoying the bounties from the garden, and are managing to stay cool! This past weekend I was in Vermont, with family and friends, sharing many “Slow Food” moments, with gourmet meals, wonderful people, and? beautiful walks in nature! I feel so fortunate to be able to share these times with my extended family. I don’t take a moment for granted, because I know it could all change in a flash.

Talking about change, I am flabbergasted that our House of Representatives had the audacity to pass a Farm Bill that completely cuts out all assistance to those members of our community that are in need, (a.k.a. Food Stamps or SNAP) while expanding the farm subsidies paid out to some of the wealthiest individuals and largest agribusiness’s around.? It just doesn’t make any sense to me! We all need to let our Representatives know that we do not approve of this Farm Bill, and do what ever we can, to see that it is not passed by Congress.

This week on iEat Green with Bhavani, on the Progressive Radio Network, I am very excited to have as my guest, Barbara Damrosch, who, along with her husband, Eliot Coleman, run one of the oldest, and most successful organic farms in America. Ms. Damrosch has been called “the queen of organic growers” by the New York Times, and is a guru for sustainable living. In her new book, The Four Season Farm Gardener’s Cookbook, she shares some of her favorite recipes, while sharing some of her secrets of organic growing. It’s like getting two books in one! I hope you can join us, for what promises to be an insightful discussion and exploration of a true “Farm to Table” icon.
