If I sound a bit melancholy, I am. It’s not a typical state of mind for me, but I am mentally exhausted. I’m tired of the polarization in our country, in our communities and even in our families. I’m tired of the bullying from the guy in the White house, and I fear that it will not be over after the election. How long will it take before we know who our next President will be?

I’m tired of not hugging my friends, I’m sad that I can not gather around a communal table filled with love, laughter, and delicious food, and I’m frustrated that I can’t host my annual cook-a-thon this Thanksgiving. For the past 25 years, volunteers with iEat Green have been cooking and serving a homemade Thanksgiving Dinner to hungry folks in our city, but unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we have had to cancel the event.  However, River Fund NY, the non-profit organization  that I partner with, is still collecting turkeys to distribute to the families they serve.

Therefore, if you are in a position to be able to donate a turkey to a needy family, you can drop it off here at the iEat Green homestead on the Sunday or Monday before Thanksgiving. I could also use everyone’s help in collecting coats, warm winter clothing, blankets and sleeping bags for us to share with those in need.
