iEat Green Will Be Marching on Sunday! Sharing Mushroom Inoculation Photos! Brian Tokar, Author of “Climate Justice and Community Renewal: Resistance and Grassroots Solutions” Will be Joining Bhavani on PRN!

Hi All,

After months of semi lock-down and social isolation, I will be venturing out of my homestead, and heading into New York City for what I hope will be a huge turnout for the Climate Justice Through Racial Justice March and Rally on Sunday. As we all grapple with the realities of systemic racism, it is crucial that we acknowledge how climate change, food insecurity, police brutality, and environmental justice disproportionately impacts communities of color. As a white woman, I will march in solidarity with my brothers and sisters, fighting for equal rights and environmental policies that protect our planet and everyone who lives on it!

This past weekend, a small group of us inoculated oak logs with Shiitake mushroom spores, and bales of straw with Oyster Mushroom spores. The oak logs will live in the shaded part of our property, and won’t fruit until next year, while the plastic bags filled with inoculated straw will hang in our dark basement for a month, before coming outdoors to fruit. The process was much more involved then I had anticipated, but we all had fun and learned a lot. I’ll let you all know when the mushrooms are ready!
