Hi Everyone,

I am very excited to have Jay Feldman join me on my show this week! Jay is the executive director of Beyond Pesticides, and is a co-founder of the organization. He has served as its director since 1981, and will be speaking at their upcoming conference, Beyond Pesticides 37th National Pesticide Forum at the NY Academy of Medicine next week. Jay has dedicated his life to finding solutions to pesticide problems after seeing the devastation that they can cause. In 1978, Jay worked with farmworkers and small farmers after receiving an EPA grant to the organization Rural America (1977-1981). That work inspired him to launch Beyond Pesticides’, to assist local groups and impact national pesticide policy. Since then, he has tracked specific chemical effects, regulatory actions, and pesticide law. In September 2009, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary, Tom Vilsack, appointed Jay to the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), where he completed a 5 year term in January 2015.

I’m looking forward to talking with him about his organization, Beyond Pesticides, as well as the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), and how it has changed over the years. I’m interested in what we can all do to help preserve the integrity of organic food, and how we can help to change policies that allow the continuation of toxic chemicals in our environment.
