iEat Green Welcomes Gigi Pomerantz, Founder of the Non-Profit “Youthaiti” to PRN!

Hi Everyone,

Depending on where you live, you may have enjoyed waking up to a Winter Wonderland this week. I know I did! I got to try out my new snow shoes, and do a little cross country skiing. I always say, if it’s going to be cold, you might as well have some snow to make it fun!

iEat Green Welcomes Gigi Pomerantz, Founder of Youthaiti, to the Progressive Radio Network.

Gigi Pomerantz is the Founder and Chair of Youthaiti, a non-profit organization committed to building ecological sanitation facilities in communities throughout Haiti. Gigi is a retired Family Nurse Practitioner who traveled to Haiti for the first time in 2006 as part of a medical mission team.  Always interested in prevention as a focus of her practice, Gigi looked at health problems as challenges to prevent.  When she saw the toll of chronic worms and diarrhea, malnutrition and lack of access to basic necessities like sanitation and clean water, she searched for affordable ways to address these health inequities.  Gigi founded Youthaiti in 2008 to work with local Haitians to address some of these basic needs. Since 2006, Gigi has been back to Haiti 26 times.  Youthaiti has built a Center for Sustainable Development as a training center in rural Haiti.  Dozens of people have traveled to Haiti with Gigi to learn about the challenges of living and working in a developing country first hand.

I hope you can join us on Thursday, to learn more about Youthaiti and their Center for Sustainable Development.
