iEat Green Celebrates National CSA Week! iEat Green Welcomes Andrew Faust, Permaculturist and Founder of The Center for Bioregional Living!

Hi All,

For those of you who are still wondering what a CSA is, it stands for Community Supported Agriculture, and this week is National CSA Week! (who even knew there was such a thing?) CSA’s are the best way to get local, organic vegetables in season, directly from the farmer, without the middle person. Every CSA is slightly different, so you want to research and compare the options before you decide on which program is best for you. Purchasing a CSA membership helps the farmer out by giving them funds they need at the beginning of the season, and helping them plan how much to grow of each crop, while supplying you with the freshest produce available.

iEat Green is working with Slow Food North Shore and NOFA-NY in creating a Long Island CSA Fair, where you will be able to meet all of the farmers offering CSA’s on Long Island, and shop around for the program that is right for you. The event will be held outdoors at the Sisters of St. Joseph’s in Brentwood and set up like a farmers market with plenty of room for social distancing. We have also arranged for the Green Street Food Truck and Mike’s Knife Sharpening Truck to be on hand, to sharpen your knives and feed your bellies. There will be live music to keep the event rockin’! We hope you can join us!

Andrew Faust, Permaculturist and Founder of The Center for Bioregional Living!

I am very excited to welcome Andrew Faust to my show this week! Andrew is one of the premier Permaculture teachers and designers in North America with over two decades of experience in the field. His passionate and mind expanding talks and curriculum have motivated teachers, as well as students, since his decade long career as a H.S. teacher at Upattina’s, a open community free school in Glenmoore, PA.

Andrew created his own Permaculture Ph’d project, in 1999, a fully off grid, Straw Bale educational center in Pocahontas County W.V. He moved to Brooklyn in 2007, where he has been applying his knowledge to the urban landscape. Faust has been inspiring film makers with the message of Permaculture culminating in the film: Inhabit,  and a life changing Permaculture Design Certification course, with over 500 graduates. Faust received a dual diploma in Design and Education from Permaculture Institute of North America in 2016. Andrew and Adriana Magaña, with their daughter Juniper, run the Center for Bioregional Living in Ellenville, NY., a hands-on educational campus for students and clients.

Andrew is a visionary permaculturalist and a bioregional educator, who taps into the rich synergy between permaculture and biodynamic agriculture, which he has been studying since 1996.

I hope you can join us on Thursday, as we explore the intersection between permaculture and biodynamics, and how they each complement each other.
