iEat Green Sorts Through the Bombardment of Bad News! Bhavani Welcomes Author, Ellen Ecker Ogden, to PRN, to Talk About Her New Book, “The New Heirloom Garden!”

Hi Everyone,

I know my newsletter is supposed to be focused on food and its impact on the environment, but it is so hard to not chime in about gun control, voters rights, police brutality, and of course vaccinations. The shooting this week in Times Square in the middle of the day, injured two women and a 4 year old child, and brought renewed attention to gun violence.  Mass shootings, where 4 or more people are shot at once has more than doubled from last year!  Meanwhile, the Republicans continue to push for, and to pass new voting rights restrictions that are aimed to make it difficult for communities of color to vote, similar to the new laws passed in Georgia, Florida and Arizona. Police brutality continues to be a leading cause of death for young black men, and herd immunity against the pandemic seems to be a pipe dream. With all of this news coming at us 24/7, it is more important then ever to take control of your life, and to choose foods that will support your mental well being and your physical well being, while being kind to the planet.
