iEat Green Shares Interview with Amy Klein, CEO of Capital Roots.

Hi Everyone,

I had a great interview this week with Amy Klein, about the work she does at Capital Roots, and the mission of the organization. Capital Roots’s mission is to nourish healthy communities by providing access to fresh food and green spaces for all. They envisions a thriving community where land and fresh food empower physical, social, and economic health. They have many programs that help them reach their goals, from community gardens, to a Veggie Mobile that travels around the four counties they serve, and everything in between. They have a Produce Project that gives teenagers the opportunity to learn about running a small farm and selling the produce at their farm stand, and they also sponsor a Farm to School program for pre-K through second grade. They have been instrumental in getting fresh produce into corner stores with their Healthy Store Program, and they support a VeggieRx program where doctors can prescribe vegetables to treat chronic health conditions. To really get a sense of all the programs they run, please visit their website at CapitalRoots.org. The work they are doing, under the leadership of Amy, is truly amazing!
