iEat Green Shares Interview with Amie Hamlin, Executive Director of the Coalition for Healthy School Food

Amie Hamlin Joined Bhavani on the Progressive Radio Network!

This past week, I had the pleasure of interviewing Amie Hamlin, the co-founder of  The Coalition for Healthy School Food, and the person responsible for making it all happen!  When the pandemic first hit, The Coalition for Healthy School Food partnered up with many vegan restaurants in the city, and distributed free meals to any child in need. It was amazing to see how quickly they were able to mobilize and get food to those in need!

Since then, they have made all of their classes, recipes, and curriculum’s available to anyone for free online! They are offering classes in plant based cooking, exercise, including yoga and hip hop, racial justice and it’s connection to food, and of course the environment.

As you can imagine, with the pandemic still in full swing and with all in-person activities, including fundraising, still on hold, the Coalition for Healthy School Food is looking for support in order to keep the organization going.  Their main fundraising event is their Annual Gala, which like most galas this year will be Virtual. They will be offering a pre-Gala event, the Green Apple e-Summit from October 24th – 27th, with speakers addressing issues around healthy eating, building our immunity, creating change in your school’s food, food and racism and strategies for schooling at home. Following the four days of presentations, the Coalition will be hosting their Virtual Gala on October 28th. Please help support The Coalition for Healthy School Food  and join the e-Summit and Gala!

If you missed out interview, you can listen to it here!
