iEat Green Shares Interview with Alicia Newton

Hi All,

This morning I had a wonderful interview with Alicia Newton, the Founder and Executive Director of Nourish My Soul. Nourish My Soul is a non-profit organization that is working with young people and educating them about our food system while empowering them to  get involved in the local community. Nourish My Soul has programing for kids of all ages, and breaks them into three groups. The youngest group is called Growing Healthy Kids, where they learn how to grow vegetables in community gardens and expand their palates. Then they have their Jr. Chef Program for the 10-13 year olds, where the kids are taught culinary skills and are encouraged to create recipes to share with their families. The high school kids make a year commitment of a minimum of one hour per week, plus four community outreach events that they have to come up with and organize. They are involved in food rescue projects, feeding families with a disabled child, and dinners for veterans, just to name a few. To learn more about this dynamic non profit, listen to our interview below and check out their website!
