An Interview with Patti Wood, Executive Director of Grassroots Environmental Education

Hi All,

As I sit here writing this blog, I am looking out onto the beautiful field of snow, right outside my door, contemplating all of the goals that I have set up for myself, as my New Year’s resolutions. I am busy writing my first cookbook/memoir, and teaching myself how to play the harmonium. I am so excited about both projects, yet I am still struggling with creating the time to do both! The cookbook has been a long, life dream, to share my passion for cooking, my passion for the conviviality that is created around the table, and my love for healthy eating. My guru said to feed everyone, and that is what I am trying to inspire us all to do. To create memorable experiences, imbued with love, that nourishes the body, mind and spirit. The harmonium is the instrument that is typically used in kirtan, the singing and chanting that can transport one into a state of bliss, through the sounds and vibrations of music. Both of these new endeavors are filling me with a new sense of hope and anticipation for what life has to offer!

This week, I am so excited to have on my show, Patti Wood, the Executive Director of Grassroots Environmental Education, a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public about the links between common environmental toxins and human health.. Patti has devoted her entire adult life dsc_9580to raising the awareness of the health impacts that the chemicals found in our everyday products can have on our bodies, especially children. Her work has led to many national programs, like the ChildSafe School, which is an EPA award winning program that reduces 3 common toxic environmental exposures found in many schools, Cleaning products, Diesal exhaust and Turf pesticides.? Please join us to find out what environmental campaigns Grassroots is currently working on, and what you can do to reduce the toxins in your own environment.
