An Interview with Nancy Romer, Founder of The Brooklyn Food Coalition

Hi Everyone,

Well, I guess Winter has officially arrived! As I sit here looking out onto my white, snow covered field, I am taken back at how fast the seasons change. We just celebrated Thanksgiving, and now, with the darkening of skies, it is time to celebrate the festival of lights, the warmth of family and friends, and the giving of the Holiday Season. This year’s Christmas Event falls on Christmas Eve, so we expect not only the parents on line, but also the kids! Every year, in addition to all of the food we cook, we distribute coats and toys to everyone in the park, while serenading them with our joyous Christmas carols! If you have a good voice, we need you! If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to our event, you can send a check to The River Fund Food Pantry at; 8911 Lefferts Blvd, Jamaica, NY 11418, or drop off a coat or toy to the iEat Green homestead. If you would like to volunteer, we need sous chefs, drivers, carolers, and cleaners. You can click here to sign up.

Also, if you missed the Pride and Purpose Debate “Should the U.S. Enact Stronger Regulations Against Genetically Modified Crops?” at Hofstra University last week, you can watch it here!

My guest this week on the Progressive Radio Network is Nancy Romer, the Founder and Chair of the Board for the Brooklyn Food Coalition, and Professor of Psychology at Brooklyn College.
