iEat Green Shares Your Pain! Here’s a Little Humor to Lighten Your Day! Cut Off Funding to the Pipelines! Lauren Ornelas from the Food Empowerment Project Joins Bhavani on PRN!

Hi All,

Everyday I wake up to another nightmare, only to realize I am not dreaming, this is our new reality. It’s hard to believe that one man, along with his circle of cronies, can do so much damage in such a short time, but we can not give up hope. The silver lining is that finally, all of the wonderful grassroots organizations can agree on a common cause, and that is getting this man out of the White House! But we must all stay vigilant and become active citizens. Write those letters, sign those petitions, call your Senators offices, go to Albany, get involved in local politics, and do your part. Check out the Indivisible Guide, sign up for newletters from Food and Water Watch, the Sierra Club, the Environmental Working Group, and a slew of others, IMG_1257and show up when it counts! Click here for a New Yorker’s Guide to Protests Against Trump! There will be protests on Thursday, all across the state in front of Senator Schumer’s eight offices, calling on the Senator to be a leader and force in combating Trump’s Anti Environmental Agenda. I’ll be at Senator Schumer’s office at noon in Melville! Please come and join me! And yet, try to remember the words of Martin Luther King, “Let no man pull you so low as to hate him” Let’s work on building a wall of love, and invite everyone in!

I have to share with you a good laugh! If you haven’t seen this YouTube video, it will give you a moment of levity!

Trump has also signed executive orders to revive the Dakota Access and Keystone XL pipelines, but we can fight that by cutting off their funding. If we all put pressure on the 17 major cnv_1610_goodmandakotaaccess2banks that are bankrolling the projects, then there will not be enough money to finish the projects. Protests are planned across the country, so again, show up, and threaten to take your money out of the bank if they continue to support the projects!

This week, my guest is Lauren Ornelas, a long time animal rights activist, who in 2006 started the Food Empowerment Project. Their mission is to create a more just and sustainable world by recognizing the power of one’s food choices. They encourage healthy food choices and educate the public on the abuse of animals on farms, the depletion of natural resources, unfair working conditions for produce workers, and the unavailability of healthy foods in low-income areas. She is the former executive director of Viva!USA, a national nonprofit vegan advocacy organization. You can watch Lauren’s TEDx talk on The Power of Our Food Choices. I hope you can join us on Thursday, before the rally at Senator Schumer’s office! lauren-Ornelas
