Take Action: Tell Congress to Make Sure the Next Farm Bill Supports Climate, Land, and Food Justice for All! Tell the EPA to Mandate Polluters to Clean Up Coal Ash in Landfills, Playgrounds, Ponds and Our Drinking Water!

Support Climate, Land, and Food Justice for All!

NOFA-NY ( The Northeast Organic Farming Association-NY ) has joined forces with organic farming associations across the Northeast to create a 2023 Farm Bill Platform that is good for farmers and the public.

We are calling on Congress to:

  • Expand Opportunities in Organic by supporting the Opportunities in Organic Act
  • Demand Climate Action through investments detailed in the Agriculture Resilience Act
  • Support Organic Dairy with both immediate, targeted support and the systemic changes in the Milk from Family Dairies Act
  • Secure Equitable Access to Land and Credit by implementing the reforms in the Justice for Black Farmers Act and the Fair Credit for Farmers Act
  • Protect Farms from PFAS by supporting the Relief for Farmers Hit with PFAS Act
  • Reject False Solutions that will increase consolidation and corporate power through mechanisms that prioritize short-term profit over long-term sustainability

Please join our efforts and Take Action Today! Send a letter to your representatives in support of a just, climate-forward farm bill. Please send your letter by this Friday, June 16, to urge members of the House to include these priorities in their negotiations.

Tell the EPA to Close the Loophole on Coal Ash Polluters!

The burning of coal has long been known to be a dirty form of energy. When it is burned to produce electricity, it leaves behind a toxic waste known as coal ash. Coal ash is filled with hazardous metals and toxic pollutants such as arsenic, lithium, lead, and other carcinogens and neurotoxins. It pollutes our water and our soil, kills our fish, and makes people and wildlife sick.

Currently, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates toxic coal ash, but of course there is a loophole, and the polluters have found it. We need to push the EPA to close that loophole and make the industry polluters pay to clean up their mess!
