We don’t have any time to lose, and we need to take action now. Our country has contributed more to global warming  than any other country, and we need to turn that around immediately, before the U.N. climate talks in Glasgow.  If we want other nations to join us in fighting global warming, we need to show them that we are serious, and that we are willing to make the necessary changes. 

The two bills that President Biden has proposed would transition us away from fossil fuels and support incentives for wind and solar. However, it also supports nuclear energy, which I don’t understand, since the waste from nuclear power plants never goes away and the risks of a leak are always present. The bills would effect the types of cars we drive, how we heat and build our homes and buildings, and what plants farmers grow. Because it supports the closing of coal mines, many communities that depend on coal mines for jobs, would need re-training for other work, but the flip side is that it could save 50,000 lives from a premature death from the pollution by 2030.

People’s Action, is a national network of state & local grassroots organizations working together in fighting for justice. They just came out with a very powerful report on the undermining that is going on in Washington to prevent President Biden’s Build Back Better plan from getting passed. In the report, they reveal that corporations and the ultra rich are spending millions of dollars to prevent the bill from passing.
