In the News: The Food Advice Yo-Yo!

It is so hard to follow dietary guidelines, especially when they change 180 degrees overnight. The latest claim is that the advice to eat less meat is wrong! I’d like to know who paid for that study?

Just the other day I was talking with a young man who wanted to follow a Keto diet, which is basically the 50 year old Atkins Diet renamed for the new millennium. We all know that the Atkins diet can lead to weight loss, but it is not a healthy lifestyle diet to live by. The beauty and confusion with the internet, is that you can find information that would support any diet decision you want to choose. The trick is to follow the money. Who will benefit from the information in the study? Who paid for it? Who is going to gain financially by this information getting out? If you do the detective work, (which is not easy to do) you can debunk so much of what is out there. This latest study comes out of Dalhousie University in Canada. Like most universities, they get much of their research funding from industry, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the meat industry had their hands in this one too!
