iEat Green Shares Interview with Sara Porter from the Healthy School Campaign

Hi All,

Yesterday, I had a great interview with Sara Porter from the Healthy School Campaign. The Healthy School Campaign is a non profit organization out of Chicago, whose mission is to ensure that all children have access to healthy school environments where they can learn and thrive. The organization hosts many programs, such as the Green Clean Schools, the Space to Grow Initiative, the Fit to Learn Program, and Parents United, but the program I am most excited about is their “Cooking Up Change” contest. Cooking Up Change is a national contest that has high school teams from across the country, competing for creating the best school lunch, using the same required components that school service providers have to adhere to in the National School Lunch Program. The teams compete in local competitions and the finalists go to Washington, D.C, for their final competition, where they show off their culinary skills and engage with health and education leaders, the culinary community and Congress. It is a great program that inspires many young people to pursue careers in the restaurant and hospitality field. If you are interested in having a group from your school participate in the Cooking Up Change Competition, you can contact Sara directly.

If you missed our interview, you can listen to it here!
