iEat Green Shares Interview with Robert Lange, Founder of the International Collaborative and the Maasai Stove and Solar Project

Hi Everyone,

This past Thursday, I had the pleasure of talking with Robert Lange, (Bob) the founder of the International Collaborative and the Maasai Stoves & Solar Project. I was fascinated and inspired by the work he is doing in Tanzania, building solar stoves and creating paid jobs for women, creating chlorinated water systems with solar pumps, and teaching the people how to work collaboratively to improve their lives. The three principles that drives his work are: 1) Can you make it better? 2) Can you organize the people to work together in a collaborative way? and 3) Can you generate money and make their lives better? Bob has been able to answer “yes” to all of those questions and the result has been amazing! So far, the Maasai Stove and Solar Project has installed over 4,700 stoves in Tanzania, and has trained and employed over 200 women installers. In addition to the stoves, he has worked with the local village to build a solar chlorinated water system, a cattle business, and a cow food manufacturing business to feed the animals during a drought. And the projects keep coming! It’s quite impressive!

If you missed our interview, you can listen to it here, and to learn more about the International Collaborative, check out their website.
