iEat Green Shares Interview with Michelle Lynn Highes from the Glynwood Center!

Hi Everyone,

I just finished my interview with Michelle Lynn Hughes, and talked about all of the wonderful programs she is involved at the Glynwood Center. Michelle is the Associate Director of Regional Food Programs at the Glynwood Center in Cold Spring, NY. T She co-manages the Food Sovereignty Fund, and leads the “CSA is a SNAP” and the “Regional Food for Health” programs. At the Glynwood Center, they farm about 20 acres of their 225 acre preserve, raise lots of animals on pasture, and are committed to regenerative agriculture. Their CSA program has about 170 members, and they sponsor SNAP recipients to participate in their CSA through the Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program. They are helping to build a coalition of farmers in their region through the NYS Cider Association, The Hudson Valley CSA Coalition, and the Field and Fork Network.

Glynwood also runs a farmer training program and takes on 5-6 apprentices each season, along with workshops and programs they offer to the community. The Center is open for visitors and they have a Farm Store where you can purchase their organic, grass-fed meats and vegetables, and explore their extensive trail system.
