iEat Green Shares Interview with Marie Burcham, the Policy Director for Cornucopia Institute!

Hi Everyone,

I had a great interview yesterday with Marie Burcham, JD. They are the policy director at The Cornucopia Institute , working to advocate for organic integrity and educating the public on making good choices. The organization does research on the quality of products out there, and rates them according to the way they were grown and processed. One of the campaigns the organization has been involved in is the controversy around Carrageenan, which is currently allowed in organic foods, but has been linked to gastrointestinal inflammation and disease, including higher rates of colon cancer. The Cornucopia Institute has been working hard to get the organic rules changes, so that carrageenan is not allowed in organic products. They publish score cards, one of which lists the organic companies still using carrageenan in their products.

Please check out their website, and if you missed our interview, you can listen to it here!
