iEat Green Shares Interview with Jennifer Molidor, the Senior Food Campaigner at the Center for Biological Diversity!

Hi All,

I just finished my interview with Jennifer Molidor, and was so impressed with all the work she is doing at the Center. The Center for Biological Diversity is a non-profit, international  organization working to secure a future for all species, great and small, hovering on the brink of extinction. They use science, law and creative media, with a focus on protecting the lands, waters and climate that species need to survive, to meet their goals. Jennifer’s focus is on sustainable food campaigns, including the “Take Extinction Off Your Plate” campaign. We focused our discussion on her work promoting the Earth Friendly Diet initiative for the organization’s Population and Sustainability Program, and how industrial animal agriculture, overpopulation and over consumption impacts our food system and it’s effect on our planet and wildlife. Some of the statistics she shared, like the average American consumes 4 times the global average of meat consumption, or that cows drink 25% of the water we consume, or that 96% of all school meals had meat in them, was unfortunately not shocking, but very depressing. We have a lot of work to do to get Americans on board with choosing an Earth Friendly Diet, but luckily we have people like Jennifer leading the way.
