iEat Green Shares Interview with Eric Jackson, Co-Founder of Black Yield Institute

This past Thursday, I had a great interview with Eric Jackson about the organization he helped to co-found.  The Black Yield Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a movement toward Black Land and Food Sovereignty in Baltimore, by addressing a myriad of issues, including food inequities, lack of access to healthy food, mobilizing community involvement, and food-related illnesses. Eric and his team, believe that it is necessary for those most affected by the food inequities are the one’s taking the helm to fix the problems. The Black Yield Institute has a community farm on 1.25 acres, with 3 more acres in the wings, and is working to build a cooperative grocery store in the neighborhood.

Eric will be presenting a workshop next week at the Farm Based Education Conference in Baltimore, and will be screening his documentary film “Baltimore’s Strange Fruit“.

If you missed our interview, you can listen to it here. You can also listen on the go through the Podcast App on iTunes.
