iEat Green Shares Interview with Didi Pershouse on the Regeneration of the Soil Sponge!

Hi Everyone,

I just finished my interview with author and educator Didi Pershouse, and came away with a whole new perspective on what it means to be an “essential worker.” Not all essential workers are human! Many of them do work that makes life possible, including building the “soil sponge”– the living matrix that is the foundational infrastructure for life on land.

Didi is the founder of the Land and Leadership Initiative, where she currently teaches courses on whole systems landscape function, the essential work of other species, and the role that a healthy soil sponge can play in addressing our world’s most important challenges when it comes to food, water, climate, health, wildfires, and even conflict resolution. Her courses and her ongoing community of practice are designed to give people the tools they need to lead and support health initiatives in their own communities. Her next course Regenerating Landscapes for Community and Climate Resilience starts soon, on February 8th.

Didi’s books, The Ecology of Care: Medicine, Agriculture, Money and the Quiet Power of Human and Microbial Communities, and Understanding Soil Health and Watershed Function  are both insightful looks at regenerative agriculture, and its impact on climate, health and community resilience..
