iEat Green is Hiring Interns for the Season; The Long Island CSA Fair Returns This Sunday!

iEat Green is Hiring Interns for the Season

Once again, iEat Green is looking for three to four interns to assist with their organic gardens and upcoming events. The right candidate will have a desire to learn about all of the stages involved in organic and regenerative gardening, from nourishing the soil to harvesting and packaging the vegetables, and everything in between.  We grow a wide assortment of organic vegetables, and use them for hosting events and cooking classes. The interns will also learn knife skills and plant based cooking techniques, and assist Bhavani in iEat Green sponsored events. Each work day will include a vegan lunch, prepared together.

If interested, please send a cover letter and resume to Bhavani@iEatGreen.com

The Long Island Community Supported Agricultural Fair (CSA) is This Sunday, March 5th from 11am to 3pm

We are very excited to be hosting the LI CSA Fair this Sunday at the Sisters of St. Joseph in Brentwood, along with Slow Food North Shore, NOFA-NY, Deep Roots Farmers Market, and the Sisters of St. Joseph. This is a great opportunity to meet our Long Island farmers, and to talk with them about their CSA program, allowing you to choose the perfect program that suits your family’s need. Some CSA programs offer just produce, while others have “add on” options like fruit, flowers, cheese, bread, eggs, meat and fish.

Community Supported Agriculture supports local farmers by purchasing a weekly share of the harvest and paying up front, giving the farmer the financial support at the beginning of the season when they need it. Some programs offer payment plans so you do not need to pay all up front. Either way, CSA’s are one of the best ways to get fresh organic produce at reasonable and fair price. We all know that eating more fruits and vegetables, and supporting local, sustainable agriculture, is great for your health and that of our planet.

In addition to the CSA Fair Farmers, we will have cooking demonstrations, organic coffee, and refreshments for your enjoyment, so plan on coming and visiting for a while! Also, bring your knives to be sharpened. Mike and Sons Knife Sharpening Truck will be parked out front, so you can have your knives sharpened while you shop!

Please join us on March 5th at the Sisters of St. Joseph. For more info, call Bhavani @ 516-238-3616
