An Interview with Dana Frasz, Executive Director & Founder of Food Shift

Hi Everyone,
Well, this Thursday is my last live, PRN show, before I leave for India! I will be gone for 3 1/2 weeks, and will be writing to all of you from there, on my blog each week! I’ll share with you my adventures and insights, my “Aha” moments and my trials and ?tribulations, which, by the nature of India, I’m sure will happen! This is a trip I intended to take with my satsang sister, when I graduated from college, but motherhood came quicker than planned, so it has been on the back burner for the past 34 years!! My satsang sister and I have seized the moment, so off we go to visit the ashram of Neem Karoli Baba and the Dalai Lama! I have pre-recorded my PRN shows for the weeks I will be gone, so iEat Green will still be with you, every Thursday morning at 10am!

As I run around this last week, trying to get everything done before I leave, I realized that I needed to give everyone a “Heads Up” on this years Thanksgiving Feast for the Homeless, which will be right around the corner when I come back. This years event will take place on Tuesday, November 24th, so all of the shopping, prepping and cooking will happen the weekend before. Please put it in your calendars if you want to volunteer, or send a donation check directly to the River Fund Food Pantry at:?89-11 Lefferts Blvd,?Richmond Hill NY 11418

On another note, Gateway Community Garden, which is our local community garden, and a project close to Slow Food Huntington’s heart, has published their first community cookbook, and I have 3 recipes in it! The cookbook is great, and hopefully it will help us raise enough money to keep our garden going. Please support our community garden, and buy a copy of the book. Each is $10. To order, send a check made out to: Open Space Institute/LICAN Project to Nancy Berg, 22 Biltmore Circle, Huntington Station, NY 11746. Include your phone #. Nancy will arrange a delivery. The book is filled with many great recipes, all utilizing what is growing in season, in our gardens.

My guest this week on the Progressive Radio Network is Dana Frasz, the Executive Director and Founder of Food Shift, a non profit organization addressing and combating food waste in this country through education and food recovery programs.? The tremendous amount of work Dana has done in the past year, since launching Food Shift, is a testament to her commitment and passion for this problem, and her dedication to changing the way we all approach food. Please join me on Thursday to learn more about the Food Waste problem in this county, and what we all can do about it!
