Hi All,

This week, on the Progressive Radio Network, I had the pleasure of interviewing Barbara Shinn, co-owner of Shinn Estate Vineyards in Mattituck, on the North Fork of Long Island. I must say, I love my job! I get to meet so many wonderful, interesting people, and I learn so much. While talking with Barbara, I learned more about wine growing, and the different practices that set them apart from more conventional, industrial wine makers. At Shinn Estate Vineyards, they practice restorative, biodynamic methods, and look at the whole ecosystem when making decisions. I found it so fascinating!? I had also heard that some wines were not vegan, and I never knew why, but now I do. Many wines are filtered with egg whites, or fish roe, to remove some of the sediments and create more clarity in the wine. At Shinn Estate Vineyards, they never do that.
