An Interview with Mary Berry, Executive Director of The Berry Center

Hi Everyone,

I have been very busy, working with Slow Food Huntington and the Cinema Arts Centre, to put together our first Film and Food Feast, which we rescheduled for February 16th, at 6:30pm, due to the Super Bowl taking precedent. The idea of the evening, was to pick a variety of short documentary films on food, that we could pair with locally sourced food, to create a delicious, balanced, multi-sensory experience for everyone’s palette. I am happy to say that we did it! We have 6 short films that will highlight our local farmers and producers, and get you thinking about where your food comes from, and the people behind it. The entire event will take place in the Sky Cafe at the Cinema Arts Centre, and following each film, you will be served a course that highlights the food you just saw in the film, from appetizer to dessert! I hope you can join us!

This week, I am very excited to have as a guest on my show, Mary Berry, the daughter of Wendell Berry, and the Executive Director of The Berry Center. The Berry Center was formed to continue the work of her father, and grandfather, and to educate young farmers in a multi-faceted approach to Mary-Berry-Smithagriculture, getting away from industrial agriculture and letting nature be the standard. Wendell Berry’s book, The Unsettling of America: Culture and Agriculture, started the conversation about the the dark side of industrial agriculture, and Mary will use his work, along with his brother and father, to help re-shape the future landscape of farming in this country. I hope you can join me.
