iEat Green Gears Up for the 3rd Annual LI Food and Film Feast; Dr. Lonna Gordon, Adolescent Medicine Specialist, Joins iEat Green on the Progressive Radio Network Radio

Hi Everybody,

OK, just one line about the primary election before I move on to some real good stuff! It’s so hard to Trump tweetstay optimistic, when one front runner thinks Climate Change is a hoax, invented by the Chinese, and the other is in bed with Monsanto. OK, I said it! Now I can move on!Hillary_Monsanto

Thank G_D I have other things that need my attention. Like the upcoming, 3rd Annual Long Island Food and Film Feast, taking place this Sunday at the Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington. I am really excited to be a part of it! All of the films were carefully chosen to bring you an enchanting, thought provoking, Slow Food experience, from the moment you take your seat, until you say good night. The evening starts with a film about organic wine, and then weaves it’s way through the landscape in films about oysters, produce, fungi, beekeepers, apple orchids, and sugar, and then wraps it all up in a heart lifting film about children growing vegetables in the Bronx. All the while, you are being served dishes by candlelight, inspired by the films, and discussions led by our passionate speakers. All of the dishes are prepared with love, using organic ingredients when possible, by iEat Green and volunteers of Slow Food North Shore. They are gluten free, and mostly vegan. We will have a tofu alternative for the oysters, for those who don’t eat seafood. This is one six course meal you don’t want to miss!

My guest this week, on the Progressive Radio Network, is Dr. Lonna Gordon. She is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine and an Adolescent Medicine Specialist at the Dr. Lonna GordonMount Sinai Adolescent Health Center. Dr. Gordon is passionate about child and adolescent obesity prevention and treatment, and has led a variety of clinical and community interventions related to those subjects. She also does research around the psychological and social implications of obesity during adolescence, and is working hard to bring an awareness of healthy eating to the populations she is working with. I’m really excited to be having her on my show, and to explore some of the ideas she has around treating this epidemic.

Remember, my show is recorded live, every Thursday, from 10-11 am, EST.  To tune in, navigate to PRN.fm and click the “Listen Live” button on the left. Also try downloading the PRN mobile app, and take the station with you wherever you go!
