Take Action: Say NO to Port Ambrose LNG Terminal, Say YES to Wind Power, Debate About Open-Ocean Oragnic Fish

Tell Governor Cuomo to Veto the Port Ambrose LNG Terminal:? Protect our Coastline

Unknown-1

Port Ambrose is a proposed offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal located near the entrance to the New York/New Jersey Harbor.? The proposed site overlaps with two Coast Guard training areas, a proposed wind power project, several important fishing areas, and wildlife migration routes.? Further reasons to oppose such development:? LNG released into the environment is highly flammable, is unsafe, and poses an explosion risk; building such a site steers us away from efficiency, conservation, and renewable energy; importing LNG is extremely polluting as it contains contaminants that can corrode pipelines; exporting LNG will cause hydrofracking to increase across the region . . . need I say more? ?Send your letter now.

Tell USDA that Open-Ocean Fish Farms Should Never be Certified as Organic

images

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is considering allowing fish farms at sea to be certified as organic.? The question is how can they monitor or control the wide range of substances that flow in and out of fish farms out in the ocean.? Not only will this designation weaken the integrity of the USDA organic label, it also does not address the fact that keeping fish penned, thereby inhibiting their natural behavior, goes against the very principles of organic production.?
