Say “NO” to Floating Fish Farms

Floating fish farms of China. Yuck!!!

“The Trump administration is considering handing over our oceans to industrial ocean fish farms…Industrial ocean fish farms contain hundreds of thousands of farmed fish that can spill into the surrounding ocean. They pollute the water with untreated fish waste, excess feed, agricultural drugs and pesticides, and heavy metals and chemicals. And they spread disease and pests, threaten wildlife, and are putting truly sustainable seafood producers out of business.” – Friends of the Earth

Momentum is building across the country to stop these disastrous projects. Already, states along the Pacific Coast have moved to ban them. Now, we need your help to push the federal government to follow suit. Tell the Trump administration to stop supporting industrial ocean fish farms!

Trump Announces Plans to Open Nearly All U.S. Waters to Offshore Drilling

In a new draft five-year program (2019-2024) for oil and gas development on the Outer Continental Shelf, the Department of the Interior outlined its plans to expand future oil and gas leasing to the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic oceans, as well as the eastern Gulf of Mexico.” – Oceana

Image result for cuomo proposed tunnel On January 26^th, Governor Cuomo announced that the State Department of Transportation has issued a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) to advance the proposed tunnel from Rye to Oyster Bay. See Newsday’s article published on Saturday.

Friends of the Bay have started a petition to let Governor Cuomo know that members of our community do not favor this action. If you would like to add your name to their growing list of supporters, please visit Change.org.

And even fewer are aware that Amazon.com’s delivery trucks use fuel drilled from the Amazon rainforest. That needs to change, and it’s Amazon.com’s responsibility to help.
