Protect Against Another Hilcorp Alaska Gas Leak by Demanding We Transition Away from Investments in Big Oil and Gas Companies!
Hilcorp Alaska was responsible for a natural gas leak last April in Cook Inlet that released methane for months. The leak generated great concerns about the impacts to wildlife, but specifically, the Beluga Whale habitat which the natural gas was dumping into… The leak also was cause for increased scrutiny of the Inlet’s dated oil and gas facilities. Dive crews were able to “safely and successfully” install a clamp on the marine pipeline, said Hilcorp in a prepared statement, yet the repair required multiple dives to the seafloor and state officials said the damaged line is 80 feet deep.
The subsea leak was discovered Feb. 7th, but Hilcorp data showed it had been occurring since late December, according to federal pipeline regulators. This is insane!!!
