Recent support by state Republican leaders for fracking bans puts heat on Democratic leaders who still support fracking.
“Now, for the first time, a Republican governor has listened to the science and popular opinion by declaring opposition to fracking. In so doing, he has not just toppled a wall of partisanship on the issue in the state, but also made it impossible for the undecided Senate Democratic leadership to do anything but pass a ban on fracking.
But Republican support for banning fracking is not just limited to Maryland. In Florida, bills have been introduced in both houses by Republicans with a bi-partisan group of co-sponsors to ban fracking in a state. The Senate bill has already advanced through its first committee by a unanimous vote and support for both bills continue to grow.” -Food & Water Watch

Block the Bayer-Monsanto Merger!
Bayer and Monsanto?! This mega-merger is a BIG deal: combining these two corporate giants gives them enormous market share in GMO seeds, pesticides and more.
This proposal follows a troubling trend of giant agriculture company mergers — leaving just a few companies in control over the building blocks of our food system. Listen to my interview this week with GMO expert, Steven Druker, about the dangers of GMO’s and the unlawful cover-up of scientific research!

Block the Keystone XL Pipeline Project
“The Seattle City Council voted unanimously Monday to oppose the Keystone XL Pipeline that the Trump administration signed off on last month, and to request that the city’s finance department explore how it might avoid contracting with banks backing the $8 billion project.”- The Seattle Times
The Keystone XL resolution says a number of banks — Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase, Citibank, Bank of Montreal, Scotia Bank, ATB Financial, Bank of Tokyo, Barclays, Credit Suisse, HSBC, National Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, TD Bank, Credit Agricole, Desjardins, Deutsche Bank, Mizuho and Sumimoto Mitsui Banking Corporation — have provided financial services to pipeline builder, TransCanada.
Help in the fight and divest from the above listed banks! Better yet, lobby with your city council to push back against supporting these financial institutions!
