Scotland Announces Total Ban of Monsanto’s GMO Crops

scotland-gm-cropsThere are new EU rules allowing countries to opt out of growing EU-authorized GMO crops, and Scotland is jumping right on it. The amendment came about earlier this year and allows Member States and Devolved Administrations to restrict or ban the cultivation of genetically modified organisms within their territory.

The Cabinet Secretary said: “Scotland is known around the world for our beautiful natural environment – and banning growing genetically modified crops will protect and further enhance our clean, green status.” One by one countries are standing up to Monsanto and loudly saying NO together. Let’s keep it up!

Factory Farm 360 Video

Taryn Manning presents an inside look at factory farming to show the truth about the animal cruelty.vcJBztqOHionJrt-800x450-noPad Factory farming is an industrial process in which animals and the products they generate are mass produced. The animals are treated not as living beings but as a product and nothing more. Factory Farming is an Agribusiness and they only care about profit and how much product they can get out of the animals, meat, eggs and dairy for example. Because of this they are drugged and pumped with antibiotics, hormones and steroids to make them grow faster in a shorter amount of time. Nearly all of today’s animal products come from factory farms. Click here to watch the video.

A Huge Algae Bloom Off the Pacific Coast Is Poisoning Sea Life

a-huge-algae-bloom-off-the-pacific-coast-is-poisoning-shellfish-and-sea-lions-body-image-1439228625Algae blooms happen every year in the Pacific Ocean, but the unexpected extent of the brownish bloom this year is due to a complex set of factors. Scientists believe that the warmer waters of the Pacific Ocean due to climate change, and increased use of fertilizers on farms due to the ongoing drought might be playing a role.

The Pacific Ocean bloom has been caused by high concentrations of Pseudo-nitzschia, a type of phytoplankton that produces a harmful substance called domoic acid. The acid is a neurotoxin that can destroy nerve tissue, and when ingested, it can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, headache, and dizziness in humans. In severe cases it can also result in breathing trouble, confusion, cardiovascular instability, seizures, permanent loss of short-term memory, coma, or death.

Coca-Cola Pays Scientists To Say Obesity is Not the Result of Bad Diets10COKE-1-tmagArticle

Cocoa-Cola is trying to promote exercise over better eating habits, saying that eating lots of food isn’t bad for you, the problem is people not exercising. They are claiming that sugary drinks are not a cause of obesity, stating that “…there’s really virtually no compelling evidence that that, in fact, is the cause.” Which in my opinion is an absurd statement, because there has been more and more evidence to prove just the opposite of what they say. Coca-Cola donated $1.5 million dollars to the organization called Global Energy Balance Network, that states the exact same point of view on diet and exercise as Coke. Seems very curious, doesn’t it?
