iEat Green Shares Interview with Josh Balk, Vice President of the Humane Society of the United States

Hi All,

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of interviewing Josh Balk, the Vice President of Farm Animal Protection for The Humane Society of the United States, (HSUS) about the work they are doing to improve the lives of animals. They are the largest animal rights organization in the country, and their work in advocating for better living conditions for the millions of animals suffering in factory farms is huge! They are responsible for getting the likes of McDonalds, Burger King, Walmart and Starbucks to agree to stop using battery caged chickens for their eggs, and antibiotic chickens for their sandwiches. A great victory! Josh also worked on the campaign in Massachusetts (that passed by 78%) to create a law that makes it illegal to produce or sell any chicken, veal or pork, that comes from an animal that was confined in a battery cage, veal crate, or gestation cage, and they are working to pass that law in every state! Yay! As you can imagine, there was a lot of opposition from the factory farm industry, and with the new administration it is only going to get worse, so please sign on to the HSUS to be notified of any alerts or campaigns that might need your help. And listen to our interview below!
