iEat Green is Live at the Food Tank Summit

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I recorded my show live, at the Food Tank Summit, so that I could share with you first hand, some of the discussions and topics that were being discussed at the conference. The purpose of the conference was to brainstorm solutions, to some of the tough questions that plague us in our current food system, such as food waste, hunger, food related illnesses, (obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer etc.) sustainability and the environment, GMO’s, marketing to children, science, local economies, food policy and organics. The Food Tank Summit brought together people from both sides of the aisle to discuss some of these challenges, and to look at ways to collaborate and create partnerships to tackle some of the most pressing problems. I interviewed a few of the panelists, to give you a taste of the dynamic individuals that were there. First, Amanda Oborne, Vice AmandaPresident of the Food and Farm Division at Eco Trust joined me to tell us about her work,  Riana lynnand the Food Hub that Eco Trust is setting up in Portland. Then Riana Lynn joined me, to talk about her work as the Founder and CEO of Food Trace, where she developed technology that maps out food vendors, farmers and one’s entire food supply chain, in order to track and simplify the process for business owners. My last guest was Ritish Gupta from Hungry Harvest, to talk about their food recovery program. Hungry Harvest is similar to a CSA delivery share, except all of the produce is recovered from local farms, and found it’s way into the CSA box because it is “Ugly” riteshguptaeither misshapen, picked too late, or not perfect. It is a wonderful way to keep this surplus out of the landfill and get it into one’s kitchen. If you missed the show, you can listen to it here!
