iEat Green is Full of Gratitude and Thankfullness for all of the Volunteers and Donors; Still Basking in Thanksgiving Heaven! iEat Green Interviews Chris Hunt from GRACE Communications Foundation

Hi All,

I missed you last week, since Thanksgiving falls on a Thursday, but I was kept very busy with our annual Thanksgiving Feast for the Needy. As always, I am blown away by the out pouring of love, energy and goodwill that comes from our awesome community. Folks from the Young Men and Women’s Real Estate Association, and the Worldwide Psychos came out in large numbers, as did the Brotherhood from Temple Beth David, families from the Waldorf SchOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAool of OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAGarden City, and my wonderful friends and family. Each year, the Social Ministry from St. Aiden’s Parish donates 20 turkeys and A-Z Party Rentals donates thermal caddies to keep all of the food hot. I also get donations from Whole Foods in Jericho, Inter-County Bakers in Deer Park, The Milleridge Inn in Jericho, John’s Farm in Plainview, Kitchen Kabaret in Roslyn, and A & J Produce in the Bronx. I have to give a special thank you to Jericho Cider Mill, who donates their delicious cider each year, so we can serve the people waiting on line, some delicious hot cider, and Manhattan Mini Storage, who donates the use of a truck along with a couple of guys, to help us deliver everything to the park. We cook enough food to feed hundreds of people in the park, and hundreds of people in local shelters, and I couldn’t do it without the help of my extended community. Thank you, thank you, thank you!2015 Thanksgiving Feast

And now I can start to think about our Christmas Feast for the Needy on December 22nd! Keep your eyes open for the sign up sheet! Last year, I started asking all of the women I know, to clean out their jewelry boxes, and polish up all of the jewelry that they don’t wear, and donate it, so it can be given as a Christmas gift to a needy teenager. It’s a wonderful opportunity for getting rid of all of the things we no longer wear, and to give it to someone who will love it! Our coat collection and toiletry collection continues, as we gather winter clothing, boots, sleeping bags, blankets and small toiletry items for those in need. I am also collecting new and almost new toys, and stuffed animals for the children. As you can see, all of this work takes the effort of everyone to make it a success, and I thank you in advance for your help!

My guest this week on the Progressive Radio Network, is Chris Hunt from GRACE Communications Foundation, to talk about the interconnections of food, water and energy systems, in promoting sustainable and renewable solutions. Grace Communications Foundation is the organization behind the Meatrix Film Series, the SustainableTable and the new Eat Well Guide, and I am so excited to learn more about the wonderful work they do. Please join me on Thursday, for an inspiring conversation with Chris Hunt.
