iEat Green Attends the NYC Food Policy Breakfast @ Hunter; Upcoming Interview with Edie Feinstein from Brooklyn FoodWorks

Hi Everyone,

This morning I woke up very early and joined the mad rush of cars heading into NYC on the Long Island Expressway. Why people do this everyday I can not imagine, but I was doing it for a special occasion. I had a ticket to attend the NYC Food Policy Breakfast at Hunter College, where Charles Platkin ( the Director of the Food Policy Center) was going to be interviewing logo_nyc_food_policyNaomi Starkman, the Founder of Civil Eats, about her award winning, on-line publication. Civil Eats is a daily publication that addresses all aspects of our food system, and tries to break down complicated issues so that the average person can understand them. The conversation between Charles and Naomi was thought provoking and inspiring, and it was a wonderful way to start my day.

This week, my guest on the Progressive Radio Network is Edie Feinstein, the Managing Director of Brooklyn FoodWorks, a food incubator in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. I first came upon Brooklyn FoodWorks while attending the Food and Enterprise Summit this past Spring, and was immediately drawn to its communal shared kitchen and work space. The idea of a food incubator, a place where small businesses can share in the cost of a commercial kitchen and work space is life changing for the small Ediebusiness owner, and Brooklyn FoodWorks is meeting that need. Please join me on Thursday, as Edie Feinstein explains to us how the food incubator works and how one gets involved in becoming a member.
