Demand Investigation of Monsanto; Ask Congress NOT to Slash the EPA; Vote NO to Perdue; Join the Slow Food Movement!

Truth About Monsanto’s Weed Killer Roundup Revealed in Unsealed Documents

The New York Times reported last Tuesday that a former EPA official, Jess Rowland, may have assisted in the cover-up of a toxicology report on Monsanto’s Weed Killer Roundup, in order to protect the company’s “billion-dollar flagship product” from being taken off the market.

According to recently unsealed court documents, Rowland may have falsely altered the report that was to be used by government regulators in determining the safety of the weedkiller. Ultimately, putting public health and food safety at risk.

TAKE ACTION: Demand Congress Investigate the collusion between Monsanto and the EPA to bury the truth about Roundup. And in the meantime, ban sales of Roundup until we know the truth!

Join the Good Food Movement and Slow Food North Shore!

Last night, we had our Slow Food North Shore monthly chapter meeting, and it went absolutely great! We had a wonderful turnout of new members, who each contributed something fresh and special to the group. While enjoying our usual abundance of organic, gluten-free and vegan/vegetarian-friendly food (thank you to everyone who brought something to the potluck!), we discussed the success of SFNS’s most recent, Long Island 4th Annual Food on Film Feast (what I also like to call ‘Farmers on Film’ series)!!! With special guest speakers from local farms and nonprofits, this gourmet dinner was delicious and informative. I look forward to planning with my comrades, another special, Slow Food event this Spring! Stay tune for details!

If you are local to the North Shore of Long Island, or anywhere in between Eastern Queens and Western Suffolk, then our chapter just might be the perfect fit for you! It’s a place where you can meet people of like ‘green’ minds, and help build a community that cares about good, clean and fair food! It’s also a great place to swap recipes!!

The Slow Food principles apply to most everyone who might be interested in building community around justice, liberty, and nature! Food is at the intersection of social, environmental, economical, and even political issues; join our good food movement and let’s fight for a fair, healthy, and clean food system for all!

Join Slow Food today and be involved with our North Shore chapter soon!
