An Interview with Gia Giasullo from The Brooklyn Farmacy and an Update on the People’s Climate March

Hi Everyone,

I don’t know about you, but the energy and buzz I feel around the People’s Climate March is electric! There is so much excitement building up to this event, and so many of the non-profit organizations that are so dear to my heart, are all all unified in this one mission! It doesn’t matter whether you are marching with the Front Lines of Crisis, or the Youth and Family Contingent, or the Food Justice and Environmental Contingent, or the Faith Based Contingents, the important thing is that you are there and counted!

I am organizing my group to march with the Food Justice Contingency. All of the details about the March, and events leading up to the March, are highlighted in my post “In the News”, but if you want to meet up with me before hand and walk over together, we are meeting at 10am at Grandaisy Bakery,?176 West 72nd Street, and we?ll head from there to the assembly area together at 10:30am

What to Wear: Food & Cooking Related costuming, or whites or a creative costume

What to Bring: Signs (without wooden poles, use wrapping paper rolls) pots & pans, other noise makers, PROPS

The Food Justice contingent is meeting at 10:30 on Central Park West between 71st and 72nds Streets. ?The NYPD has requested that people enter through either 77th or 81st Streets. It’s going to be a mob scene and getting there early is a good idea. ?And no one wants to miss Vandana Shiva speak!!

My guest this week on the Progressive Radio Network is Gia Giasullo, a co-owner of the Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain. I stumbled upon this place while exploring Brooklyn, and instantly fell in love! It wasn’t so much about the soda fountain offerings that attracted me, it was the memories it sparked from my childhood, and it seems I am not alone! When Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain opened their doors in 2010, they launched a revival of the Soda Fountain Shoppe to a new generation of foodies, complete with local, seasonal and artisanal ingredients. Please join me on Thursday, as I talk with Gia about The Brooklyn Farmacy and her new book, the Soda Fountain.
