Protect Organic Integrity
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) wants to relocate nearly half of its D.C.-based staff — after already losing 15,000+ employees. That includes about 1/3 of the National Organic Program (NOP) team, who keep the USDA Organic Seal strong. Without a well-staffed NOP, organic standards, fraud prevention, and fair competition could all be at risk.
The USDA is accepting public comments until August 26 on its plan to relocate nearly half of its 4,600 Washington, D.C.–based employees to five regional offices across the country. The National Organic Program (NOP) at USDA is at risk of losing essential staff due to these reorganization plans! NOFA-NY (Northeast Organic Farming Association) is requesting us to comment by August 26 to urge USDA to keep NOP strong.
Now is the time to act. We need the organic community to speak out on USDA’s reorganization plans and urge the agency to preserve the staffing and resources necessary for NOP to do its job effectively.

Help Ban the Use of Ractopamine on Animals!
Ractopamine is a dangerous drug that is used on factory farms to rapidly boost animal growth in order to increase profit for large meat corporations. This drug causes the animals to tremble, makes them hyperactive, and then leads to broken limbs. And of course, if you eat that meat, then you are consuming that drug too! Please help us flood the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) with messages to ban this dangerous drug.
