Brooklyn Pipeline leak back in 2016!
The growing energy needs of New York State are always of concern, as we are a densely populated state with a major city. We know gas pipelines are horrible and we have been protesting them for years! They are bad for the environment, they leak all the time, and we thought we had successfully fought them off years ago, but here they are again! One step forward and two steps backwards!
Governor Kathy Hochul recently met with the President and discussed the building of fracked gas pipelines through New York State, even though they were rejected years ago. This is clearly going in the wrong direction and is working against the NYS Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) which was voted into law back in 2019. That law requires NYS to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 and 85% by 2050.
Governor Hochul already directed the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to begin building a nuclear power plant in Upstate New York back in June. While some people try to sell nuclear energy as a cleaner energy source, we know that nuclear power plants are extremely dangerous, they leak, can have meltdowns, and can be targets of terrorism, while producing nuclear waste that can not be safely disposed of. It does not seem like Governor Hochul is making the best decisions when it comes to our safety and the future of New York’s energy needs.
We must fight back. Our lives, health, family, friends, and everything we love and care about are on the line. Together, we can win – New York has done this before with the Williams NESE and Constitution pipelines that are now back on the table alongside the expansion of the Algonquin pipeline.
Join the March on Saturday August 9th at 10AM at City Hall Park to send a powerful, united message to Governor Hochul: New York says NO to Trump pipelines!

If you’re unable to make it to the march, you can also help by contacting Governor Hochul through this website.
